Absolutely, Michael. We feel very strongly that all public transportation should comply with all accessibility laws. Our project will fight to ensure that everyone in our community gets the opportunity to experience these San Diego treasures.

Luckily the structure and design of the Class 1 streetcars lends itself particularly well to the installation of ADA accessible equipment on both sides of the vehicle -- and without altering the historic fiber of the cars! Just another reason the Class 1s are a perfect fit for San Diego.

I hope that they are going to make sure that these street cars comply with all Federal and State laws regarding accessibility so that everyone can use and enjoy them.

The disability community had to fight long and hard to gain access to the Trolley system when the City first put it into service excluding those with physical disabilities because of the lack of lifts for those who use wheelchairs.

Please don't make the same mistake. Make sure that all the street cars are accessible to everyone!

My husband of 81 years attended the Panama Exposition. His family traveled to San Diego from Milwaukee WI. Later he would attend Boot Camp in San Diego, and even later our family would move to San Diego, and we lived there for 30 years - nice place. I'd love to see San Diego have streetcars again, so our children could ride them and enjoy again the times I had on the Milwaukee streetcars - what a friendly way of travel. B.

Betsy--

We agree. In the long run, we want these streetcars to run all over town! But we do love the idea of "reintroducing" the Class 1s to the city for the Panama-California Exposition centennial celebration. This may be the perfect way to do that.

The nice thing is, if they are used for the Shapery plan, the cars could still easily be moved to a permanent rail system running from downtown to Balboa Park and, hopefully, to many of San Diego's inner city neighborhoods. For us, that is still the end goal!

I completely support the idea of getting rid of cars and traffic in the middle of the park. It's obnoxious. But not as obnoxious as the idea of a bypass being built on to the historic Cabrillo bridge. Ack!

I agree with Matt. I think it could be a good start, but my big question would be are they going to permanently live there as a shuttle for BP? Seems kind of shallow for the potential of those streetcars.

I definitely think that the destiny of the cars is along the historic line leading people to Balboa Park from downtown. That has the potential of building attraction and promoting our city a lot more than an internal shuttle...

Well what are we waiting for?!? LETS GET STARTED WITH THIS!! =D

It's a fantastic idea! Not only will it become an icon of San Diego, but WILL also improve city transit and the way San Diegans and tourists travel between the city and our central park, it'll finally be connected.

I like it, but I would rather see them used as functional commuter option rather than just a shuttle for Balboa Park. Could be a good starting point/introduction though. Also, I'd be curious to see these plans for new parking lots under the lawn bowling greens and by the organ pavilion. Seems like it could make a mess of Sixth Avenue traffic, but on the other hand it might relieve street parking issues during events such as December Nights.

The federal treasury is there just waiting for you to ask for money. It seems everybody claims, regardless of their position, that the majority supports them.

Overall the C3 meeting was good with one major exception. Typical of the meetings on this topic the presentations are overweighted in favor of the so called Jacob's Plan of building a right angle bypass bridge connection to the East end of Cabrillo bridge in front of the arched entrancway. 80% of the approximently 100 people at the meeting supported removal of parking in the plaza but opposed the bypass bridge. Many would support restoration of streetcar access to an entranceway of the park.
